John o' Groats Hafen | Dieses Schild ist vermutlich das beliebteste Motiv der Ortschaft John o' Groats im Nordosten Schottlands. Der Name John o’ Groats soll sich von dem Holländer Jan de Groot herleiten, der 1496 die Fährrechte zu den vorgelagerten Orkney-Inseln verliehen bekam. Die Ortschaft verteilt sich auf ein recht großes Gebiet, ist entsprechend weiläufig und hat ca. 300 Einwohner. Im Hintergrund ist die Fähre zu sehen, mit der man Tagesausflüge zu der Insel unternehmen kann, die Fahrt dauert ca. 40 Minuten.
